Hollyoaks has been thrown into chaos amid accusations of racism by a former cast member, with producers now reportedly in “crisis talks” as they decide how to proceed.

Actor Rachel Adedeji, who played Lisa Loveday from 2016 – 2020, took to twitter earlier this month to express her “disappointment” at bosses’ “performative and disingenuous”statement following the Black Lives Matter movement gaining momentum and subsequent Black Out Tuesday.

She has since quit the show.

And now it seems like things have only escalated as other cast members seemingly pick sides, with telly sources saying they’re “at war”.

“They're having a string of meetings as it's one thing after another,” said the insider.

"The cast is at war, there is a lot of tension over Lysette's recent comments. Some cast have threatened to quit if something isn't done about it.

"And with Stephanie [Davis] and Rachel quitting bosses are worried others will follow them out of the door. It's utter chaos - every week it's some new issue.”

Following Rachel’s powerful Twitter statement, many of her colleagues took to the comments to show their support but Lysette Anthony, who plays Marnie Nightingale, stayed silent, causing commenters to call her out on social media.

What followed has been a string of back and forth’s between cast members, with Stephanie Davis, who plays Sinead O’Connor, also quitting.

“With Stephanie and Rachel quitting bosses are worried others will follow them out of the door. It's utter chaos - every week it's some new issue,” the source continued to The Sun.

"The cast have been told that they're free to write whatever they want on social media and hold whatever opinion they like - soap bosses would never censor anyone - but when the cast are breaking lockdown rules and laws, that's really not OK."
