There’s shock as Adam is bundled off in cuffs on suspicion of murdering the Barton nurse

Practically every Emmerdale villager is under suspicion of Emma’s murder right now – let’s face it, she was detested by pretty much everyone except Zack's pigs. However some are feeling the heat more than others.

Next week it’s Adam, whose car has already been seized by the cops, who finds himself singled out!

The scrap-metal-dealer is aghast when the police swoop in and arrest him on suspicion of bumping-off the unhinged nurse.

He’s got a motive, he can’t account for his whereabouts…oh and he changed his tyres the day Emma plunged to her death. Dig yourself out of that walloping big hole matey!

“Adam knows he’s a got a dodgy track record and a terrible alibi”, says Adam Thomas who plays him. “He ran after Emma into the woods with a gun”. He certainly did and let's not forget it wasn’t that long ago he was banged up for arson.

Adam continues, “Even his wife Victoria has doubts over whether Adam has done it. He is so protective of Moira he would have taken Emma’s attack on his mum really badly. Plus he feels aggrieved that Emma killed his dad James and he never got to know him better.”

Just when you think it can’t get much worse, there’s new evidence that comes to light. Not only did Adam suspiciously change his tyres but it also emerges that a suicide note penned by Emma was found in Adam’s car. Oh dear. How did that get there then?

When questioned, Moira’s stressed- out son categorically denies that Emma had been anywhere near his vehicle and is convinced the note must have been planted….but by who?

When Adam is later released on bail he’s determined to unearth the culprit and immediately suspects Emma’s dodgy son Ross!

He heads off to confront him and as the two go head to head, he accuses Ross of framing him and Ross’s brother Pete seems to think Adam could have a point. So much for sibling loyalty!

So is Ross guilty? He sure isn’t doing himself any favours when he packs his bags and does a runner from the village! Hmm. Not remotely suspicious behaviour!

What exactly is Ross hiding and has he set Adam up to take the fall for his mum's murder?
