Coronation Street fans were stunned after Michelle Connor went to visit her boyfriend Robert Preston in prison - and he looked QUITE different.

After a few weeks away from the soap after Michelle's stalker Will set him up and landed him behind bars for assault, the pub landlady went to visit her locked-up lover.

But when Robert, played by Tristan Gemmill, appeared on screen, viewers were in for a bit of a shock.

WATCH: Robert Preston's best moments on Coronation Street so far...

Robert, who is something of a hottie for Corrie viewers, is known for his dark, brooding good looks - and his dark, tousled locks are a major part of that.

But last night's episode saw him appear in his prison uniform looking VERY different.

The 50-year-old actor seems to have embraced his natural greying hair, and was seen on the soap sporting a brand new hairstyle - complete with a sophisticated silver colour.

Michelle was overjoyed to see her boyfriend, and the couple even joked about his new look.

The jailbird jokingly asked whether the ladies on the Street would "like his new look," to which Michelle replied: "Well everyone loves a silver fox - but you're mine!"

Fans took to Twitter to share their shock over his brand new look.

Even the official Coronation Street Twitter account had a joke about the new look.

Well, we love a silver fox ourselves, and are glad to see Robert is embracing his natural self!
