No-one expected this MEGA Emmerdale twist...

Evil Emma Barton, who killed her husband James Barton by pushing him off a bridge, has managed to decieve a courtroom full of people by telling them another devastating lie - that James was depressed in the run up to his death, hinting that he took his own life.

Taking to the stand at the inquest, Emma had fans on the edge of their seats, leading them to think that she may finally confess her crimes.

"It's me, it's all down to me that he's gone. James' death - it's all my fault," she told the shocked inquest room as her sons looked on.

"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry," she said in front of a courtroom full of people that included her sons.

But viewers were shocked when, delving into her own lies, Emma insinuated that James must have taken his own life: "He wasn't happy at the end. He wanted out – to be gone. I asked him, I begged him to let me help. I tried to make him listen and I thought he was, he seemed to be. All the time he was just playing along, thinking of ways out.

"I am so sorry, I swear to you that this is not what I wanted. I couldn't let him go. I just couldn't lose him, not again after all the time apart when we were just back together and he knew that."

The intense performance left Emmerdale fans reeling, who took to social media in their droves to berate Emma and her lies. Will she get away with it for much longer?

Could Emma Barton be the best villain EVER? And how long will this all go on?
