Adam Thomas has CONFIRMED he's leaving Emmerdale after months of speculation
Adam Thomas has quit Emmerdale!
The 28-year-old actor has played Adam Barton for the past eight years, and has decided to move onto pastures new.
This will not come as a surprise to fans of the soap, after rumours started swirling back in March that he was quitting the show.
Dad-of-one Adam hit back at the rumours, tweeting: "Don't believe everything you read, people," which soothed the fears of his fans.
But he's now announced his departure from the show in a statement from ITV - which has made us think that the rumours were TRUE back in March...
Emmerdale's Series Producer Iain MacLeod said: "Everyone will be really gutted to see Adam go! He's a top bloke and a really talented actor."
And it's this it which gives us cause for speculation: "But he's given us a lot of notice, so we've been able to prepare a huge exit story for him."
HMM. Maybe we SHOULD believe everything we read, hey Adam?!
Iain added: "I'm really excited to see it play out on screen - however sad it will be to wave goodbye to such a brilliant character and cast member."
N'aww. He definitely came across as a lovely lad on I'm A Celeb! - and some of us here at Closer thought he should have won the show.
Adam himself had this to say of his departure: "I've had an amazing eight years working on Emmerdale and I've loved every minute of it.
"It was a really tough decision to take to leave but I felt that now is the time to move on and challenge myself with some new roles."
He added: "I'd like to thank everyone at Emmerdale for both giving me the opportunity to work as part of such a great team and for giving my character Adam Barton some great storylines too."
