EastEnders fans will know Phil Mitchell for regularly fighting with Grant, being shot by Lisa Fowler and becoming an alcoholic.
This year viewers have seen Phil say goodbye to his mother Peggy Mitchell after she committed suicide, he found out that he was dying and the only way to save him is a liver transplant but one thing no one was prepared for was his one-night stand with Denise Fox.
After sharing their drunken sorrows, the pair ended up sleeping together and are now expecting a baby together. However, Phil has no memory of their night together and Denise hasn’t told Phil about her pregnancy.
EastEnders viewers haven’t seen Phil be the best dad; it took him a while to accept his son Ben Mitchell’s sexuality, he only recently had a relationship with his daughter Louise and he still refuses to believe Jay Brown’s innocence with the Linzi drama.
But Steve McFadden – who plays Phil Mitchell - thinks that although Phil hasn’t had a great past with his children, he could change for the baby he’s expecting with Denise: “I think he’s got the potential to be good to all the children, in some ways, and occasionally he does get it right.
“What I feel about him is that he does the wrong thing but for the right reason. Behind what he does, he's a good-hearted man, so he'll do something terrible, but in his rationale, it makes sense.”
We sure do hope Phil sorts himself out before this baby arrives.
However, there are rumours that Phil could die however Steven isn’t a fan of the idea: “I want Phil to live.
“He’s survived worse – he’s been shot, stabbed, battered, car crashes and burning stuff down.
“Hopefully he will get through this one as well.”
EastEnders fans will have to keep watching to find out what happens.
