Jay's arrest - EastEnders

It seems as if things are about to go from bad to worse for EastEnders's Jay.

The 21-year-old was recently left horrified after learning that his new girlfriend, Linzi, was in fact a 14-year-old schoolgirl named Star.

But, despite ending their relationship immediately, it seems as if their brief tryst will have dire consequences for Jay (Jamie Borthwick).

Viewers watched as the young mechanic was exposed in front of EVERYONE at the Queen Vic by Linzi’s mum, Thelma.

And it wasn’t long before he found himself being grilled by surrogate father, Phil (Steve McFadden), who demanded to know what contact he'd had with his daughter Louise.

Soon the police came calling to 55 Victoria Road, arresting Jay and taking him to the station - despite the fact that Jay never had any sexual contact with the teenager.

After spending the night in a cell, the harsh reality hits home for Jay as he is interrogated by the police about his relationship with Linzi.

But, as he continues to protest his innocence, viewers will be left wondering whether or not anyone will ever believe him.

Speaking recently to RadioTimes.com about the drama, a show insider said: "Jay’s world comes to a juddering halt when he discovers the truth about Linzi’s age.

“He immediately realises the seriousness of his mistake and is set to face severe consequences.”

We all know that EastEnders boss Dominic Treadwell-Collins previously said that 2016 is going to be Jay’s “biggest yet” - so we doubt that this underage storyline isn’t going to be wrapped up anytime soon.

EastEnders continues with a special hour-long episode tonight on BBC One, 8pm-9pm.
