So it makes sense that they want Peggy Mitchell back on Albert Square when all the drama kicks off!

Yup, Barbara Windsor - who made Peggy one of EastEnders’ most iconic characters - will reprise her role as Ma Mitchell for one episode as part of EastEnders’ special anniversary week.

Speaking of her return to EastEnders, Barbara said: "I am absolutely thrilled that Peggy has been included in the celebrations to mark the 30th anniversary of EastEnders.

"What an incredible achievement for all the production, cast and crew, past and present".

Executive Producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins added: “Barbara and Peggy are intrinsically linked with EastEnders and when we planned our explosive anniversary episodes, Peggy was the first name on our list of hoped-for returns.

"Barbara has not only created one of EastEnders’ most iconic characters but she’s also hugely loved and missed by everyone here.

"We couldn’t celebrate thirty years of EastEnders without Barbara Windsor!"

We definitely agree - but we can't help wondering if her return might have something to do with WHO killed Lucy Beale.

Could her grandson Ben Mitchell be lying about how he came across Lucy's belongings on the eve of her death?

We guess we'll just have to wait and see… roll on February!
