EASTENDERS SPOILERS: LINDA CARTER ROCKED BY SHOCK PREGNANCY AFTER RAPE

Revealing that he will find out his soulmate Linda was raped by Dean Wicks (Matt Di Angelo) as part of an explosive Christmas storyline, Danny told The Radio Times that viewers can expect an incredibly tense episode.

"How would you react if someone you loved was raped in your home by a person you'd been looking in the eye for the past three months?"

He said: "The audience will know that the bomb is going to go off – but they'll be asking themselves: 'How big is that bomb going to be?' And, let me tell you, it's nuclear."

Dyer added that upcoming scenes will allow him to show "every bit of range" that he has as an actor.

"I'll put the question out there: how would you react if someone you loved was raped in your home by a person you'd been looking in the eye for the past three months?" he said.

"Whether you're a violent man or avoid violence at all costs, you are going to go insane.

"And I take insanity to a new level."

He added simply: "Justice is served. Beautifully."

But, while Danny is keen for the storyline to be packed with drama, he is keen for Mick - who has been portrayed as a caring family man - not to be left too changed by the revelation.

HOW WILL JACQUELINE JOSSA'S PREGNANCY AFFECT EASTENDERS' LAUREN BRANNING?

He said: “I’m honoured that Christmas is revolving around Mick’s unravelling. But where do we go from here? I don’t know. Will Mick have an affair?

"You have to keep it exciting, but I wouldn’t believe it if Mick cheated. I’d fight against it because I’m not in it for all that clichéd b******s.”

EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 7.30pm.
