If you’ve been an EastEnders fan for a long time you’ll know that Steven Beale hasn’t always been a loving boyfriend and uncle.

In the past he held his adoptive father Ian Beale hostage, he shot his step mum Jane, he lied and said his uncle Christian Clark tried to seduce him and he tried to kill poor old Pat Butcher.

Steven left the show in 2008 but has since returned as a new reformed man, or so viewers thought. EastEnders fans have discovered that Steven hasn’t completely changed when it came to light that he arranged the restaurant burglary so that he could sell the kitchen equipment to pay his debts.

And even though his girlfriend Lauren Branning is aware of his actions she has been helping him keep Jane away from working on the restaurant books.

But in scenes yet to air Jane will check the restaurants books and realise the numbers don’t add up – will she uncover what Steven’s been up to?

That’s not the only trouble brewing for Steven as he begins to get jealous of Lauren and Peter Beale’s relationship when Lauren tells Jane that Peter has seen a cute video of baby Louie.

And EastEnders viewers will soon find out what actually happened to Peter Beale and why he didn’t return from New Zealand with Lauren and Steven. Jacqueline Jossa (who plays Lauren) has hinted that viewers won’t be in the dark for much longer: “You’re going to find out actually quite soon.

“It starts to unravel and you kind of start to think okay this is why, this is what happened. It’s interesting,” she told OK! magazine.

We can’t wait!
