As EastEnders fans will already know, Stacey Slater / Branning (Lacey Turner) has been released from prison and is back on Albert Square with daughter Lily.

But, when Stacey was in prison, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) has been helping to look after little Lily - who just so happens to be the daughter of Whitney's estranged brother, Ryan Malloy (Neil McDermott).
Whitney has been in touch with Ryan via text over recent weeks - and, in a recent episode, the runaway hunk made a brief appearance at Walford Park, looking dishevelled, before quickly disappearing.

Could this all mean that Ryan Malloy, just like Jane Beale and others, be making his return to Albert Square in time for the show's 30th anniversary?
Well, judging by viewers' reactions on Twitter, people were VERY happy to see Ryan back in Walford...
Even we got a little carried away ourselves...

Taking to Twitter after the episode, McDermott referenced Cilla Black's programme Surprise Surprise as he messaged EastEnders producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins.
He also thanked fans for their positive reaction to his appearance, writing: "Thanks for the lovely reaction to tonight's Eastenders. It's great to know the character is remembered so fondly. Have a lovely night y'all!"
It remains unclear whether EastEnders bosses will - or can - bring Ryan back properly... particularly as he's currently on the run for murdering the man who abused his sister.

However if he DOES come back we imagine there will be plenty of drama; after all, he was romantically involved with Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa) when he fled Albert Square - not to mention missing Stacey, who he declared his love to before SHE went on the run for killing Archie.
