The last time we saw Peter Beale he had packed his bags with his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Branning and was heading for New Zealand.

Lauren has since returned to the square and has moved on with Peter's brother Steven Beale.

Remember Steven? He was one of the worst villains in the show. He held Ian hostage, shot Jane Beale which has led to her not being able to have children, lied that Christian Clark tried to seduce him and tried to suffocate the beloved Pat Butcher with a pillow.

Pretty dark, right?

He's recently tried to prove that he is a changed man and is helping Lauren raise her little one. However, it seems that Peter could return to the show and shake everything up.

The actor who plays Steven - Aaron Sidwell – has confessed that he'd like to see Ben Hardy (Peter Beale) return to the square, he told Inside Soap: "I would love to see Ben Hardy reprise his role of Peter and to see a showdown between him and Steven for Lauren.

"I think Ben is passionate about the show, and that he would probably be interested in coming back if the timing and story were right.

"Peter is always going to be a fixture in the story, considering that he and Lauren have a child together that Steven is raising."

We would love to see Peter return to the show, wouldn't you?

And EastEnders fans should be wary of Steven because although he seems like a changed man Aaron has revealed that his character: "Is running from something. We're always going to wonder whether he is the good or bad son – and that brings Peter into play.

"Who should Lauren be with? Who should be home with Ian? It's an interesting question."
