The countdown to Christmas is officially on. And what's the best part about Christmas besides the food? The Christmas telly. There's nothing we love more than snuggling up on the sofa after Christmas dinner and watching the dramatic storylines from our favourite soaps unfold.

EastEndersChristmas episodes are notoriously filled with drama and we've pretty much seen it all - shock deaths, affairs brought to light, and we will never forget Archie being hit over the head with the Queen Vic bar bust.

This year looks to be just as good and we have a few suspicions as to how it might play out. Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) is leaving the Square this Christmas and while we can guarantee a dramatic exit, there are few ways in which his exit could go down. Here are some of the theories about what will happen to Mick this Christmas.

Mick DOESN'T die

There have been plenty of rumours that Mick will meet a grisly end this Christmas - especially after Danny himself teased that Mick could die - however, it's also heavily rumoured that Lola Pearce (played by Danielle Harold) will pass away from her terminal brain tumour. It's very rare that soaps kill off two characters in two different storylines at the same time, so maybe Mick won't die.

Mick Carter falls off a cliff and disappears

We've had our fair share of EastEnders characters falling from great heights (think Abi and Lauren Christmas 2017), and it looks as though Mick could be headed for the same fate. The rumours started after Danny was pictured filming on a cliff and his stuntman was seen falling over the edge onto a crash mat. Mick dying would be obvious, so maybe he'll disappear and in a few years time return? Dirty Den style.

Janine Butcher kills Mick Carter

Now this wouldn't be a first kill from Janine as her track record isn't great, particularly when it comes to cliffs as we all remember what happened to Barry Evans back in 2004 (spoiler alert: it didn't end well), and it looks as though she could strike again this Christmas. Pictured filming alongside Danny on the cliff was Charlie Brooks who plays Janine and we all know that wherever Janine is trouble isn't too far behind.

Mick Carter reunites with Linda and they leave together

Not all Christmas episodes have to be traumatic, who knows, the writers might switch it up and opt to end the year on a lighter note. Mick's exit might not be as dramatic as we think and he could be reunited with soulmate Linda and the two leave the Square together.

Mick Carter leaves the Square alone

For a character as iconic as Mick Carter who has been on the show for 10 years, the writers might decide to have him bow out gracefully and leave the Square on his own in a black taxi cab.
