But Matt Di Angelo, who plays Shirley Carter’s son in the BBC One soap, has hinted that a much more controversial storyline could be heading Dean’s way.
In fact, the storyline is so ‘out there’ that Matt, 27, almost fell out with his boss over it. Appearing on Sunday Brunch at the weekend, Matt said: “I had a massive argument with my boss when he told me what my character was going to be doing in my storyline.
“I was just like, ‘What? Really?’ We had like a tiff almost.”
But Matt admitted that after his boss explained things, he realised he wanted a storyline he could really get into.
The former Hustle star continued: “[I] get on really well [with executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins]. And then he was like, ‘You can do A storylines or B storylines.
“You can do regular stuff and boring stuff like just go for a pint in The Vic, or you can do what I’m offering you and show people… make people aware of that situation and go through that. What do you want to do – do you want to get your teeth into it?”
In Friday’s episode, viewers saw an upset Dean being comforted by his Uncle/half brother’s wife Linda Carter.
Last week, Kellie Bright, who plays Linda, revealed that Dean is to become ‘infatuated’ with his aunt/sister-in-law. She said: “He’s a bit flirty. I don’t think she pays any real attention, but she does enjoy it in a weird way!”
