EastEnders bosses have said there is no truth to the rumours that Lee Ryan has been axed from the show
Alright, everyone can calm down a bit because EastEnders bosses have confirmed there is no truth to the rumours going around about a massive cast cull. The rumours started after EE's big boss Sean O'Connor quit at the weekend and was replaced (temporarily) by producer John Yorke. Then the Daily Star ran a story about a number of cast members being axed under John - Lee Ryan being named as a possible casualty. That's when the panic set in.
Lee joined the soap earlier this year as a guest star, filling in while Danny Dyer took an extended break. His character, Woody Woodward, had flings with Whitney and Tina Carter before Mick returned and booted him out of the pub.
Lee impressed bosses and fans so much he was recently signed up for a year-long stint.
The Star also claimed that Yorke is planning on killing off a lead character, a shock shooting and a hard-hitting family abuse storyline. All sounds a bit more dramatic than the storyline about bin collections.
A BBC spokesperson has hit back at the reports however, saying they're not based on any fact.
The EE bod said: "This is pure speculation. It is far too early for any decisions to have been made."
That's a relief to know. Meanwhile, we are expecting some great things from the new guy - even if he's only there temporarily.

John Yorke has a history with Walford and was responsible for the famous 'Who Shot Phil'and 'You're not my muvva!' moments. More of this please, John. Thanks.
