June Whitfield, who played Sister Ruth, opened up on Lorraine about her character in EastEnders.

The 90-year-old actress appeared on the BBC soap earlier this year and was instrumental in Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace)’s discovery of her secret son.

Last year viewers watched as Kat found out she had actually given birth to twins when she had Zoe Slater, and many have speculated that her son could in fact be Stacey’s brother Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky).

June has enjoyed a very long and successful career appearing in many television shows like Beggar My Neighbour, Absolutely Fabulous and Last of the Summer Wine.

And she’s even starred in four Carry On films, as well as an episode of Friends!

But viewers of the ITV morning show still think June looks amazing, as they flocked to Twitter to share their thoughts:

June was on Lorraine to promote the new Absolutely Fabulous movie, which she stars in as Eddie Monsoon (Jennifer Saunders)’s mum.

However the actress opened up about the fate of her EastEnders character as she told Lorraine Kelly: “I think that nun is gone up now… It wasn't mentioned but I think she is gone.”

Speaking about her time on the soap, June explained that working with Jessie was a “joy” and that she is “magnificent”.

Does this then mean that we won’t be seeing Sister Ruth in Kat and Alfie’s upcoming spin-off Redwater?

Lorraine airs weekdays at 8:30am on ITV.

Are you sad that June won’t be appearing in EastEnders again?
