EastEnders fans might remember Joel Beckett as Alfie Moon (Shane Richie)’s cousin Jake Moon, but the actor is hoping to join the cast of Coronation Street.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Joel revealed that he misses being in a soap and that he loves Coronation Street – so much so that he “never [misses] an episode”.
"I'd love to go up to Corrie for a stint, because I really miss being in a soap. It's like having a proper job," Joel told the magazine.
The 42 year old also revealed that he’s recently worked with some of the current Corrie cast too.
"I've actually worked with a couple of the current cast before - Kate Ford (Tracy) on a drama called Missing with Pauline Quirke, and an episode of Heartbeat where I had to assault Paula Lane (Kylie),” he said.
Joel played the EastEnders character from 2004 to 2006, and was involved in various criminal storylines, making several enemies.
Viewers will remember that Jake had a strained relationship with his brother Danny (Jake Maskell), who he ended up killing by accident.
But if Joel is hoping to make a return to soapland, will EastEnders fans see him back on the square soon?
After all, we never really saw what happened in his last episode when a gang of thugs attacked him…
And with Kat (Jessie Wallace) and Alfie’s new spin off Redwater scheduled to air later this year, could we see a Moon family reunion on the cards?
It’s not been confirmed if Joel will appear in either soap anytime soon, but you won’t have to wait long to see him as he returns to BBC One’s Casualty this week, to reprise his role as Rita Freeman’s ex-husband Mark – the convicted child abuser.
