Fans of Coronation Street are still reeling from the shock stabbing of Kylie Platt, but some good news MAY be in store - in the shape of three returning characters.

Rumour has it that three old faces could be coming back to the cobbles pretty soon as the ITV soap expands to make six episodes a week.

Jack P Shephard opens up about Kylie’s exit: ‘We couldn’t stop crying’

Which means more time for new storylines!

According to The Sun, Toyah Battersby, Brian Packman and Daniel Osbourne will all return to the cobbles.

Toyah played by Georgia Taylor, 36, and Bessie Street School head Brian, played by Peter Gunn, 53, are rumoured to both be returning to the street to return to their popular roles:

A Corrie source said: "The cast has to expand to take on more storylines, so these three are back.

"They've had good storylines before and will definitely stir up some trouble. All three will be on air before the extra show in autumn 2017."

During her time in Weatherfield, Georgia scooped the best dramatic performance award at the 2001 soap awards for her portrayal of teenage rape victim Toyah. And although she left the soap to try her hand at other things (Life On Mars, New Street Order and Casualty) - Corrie will always be close to her heart.

She told The Mirror in 2013: “I still get recognised so much for Corrie.

“It’s ever-present in a way, and I’m hugely fond and proud of the show so I’ve never felt like I needed to distance myself from it.

Adding: “It was my first job and I learned so much. What a lucky break for any actor to have that as their first gig.

ITV are keeping tight lipped about the rumours so only time will tell...
