It was recently revealed that Emmerdale’s Butch Dingle will join Coronation Street as Craig Tinker’s dad Darryl. Now, it’s been reported that Craig will meet up with his criminal father.
In last Friday's episode (2 September), Coronation Street viewers saw Craig discover that his dad is in prison after his application to join the police force was rejected.
And in scenes to air next week, Craig’s friend Faye sends Darryl a letter to meet Craig (thinking that’s what her friend wants) and Craig receives a letter asking for a visitation order from his dad.
But after his mother, Beth, tells him that Darryl is a liar, a criminal and forbids him from attending the visit, Craig rips up the letter and decides not to visit, before having another change of heart.
At first, father and son get on really well, until Craig realises that his father is just using him to smuggle drugs into the prison.
When Craig refuses to do what his dad asks, his dad reveals some home truths about Beth.
The actor Colson Smith (who plays Craig) spoke to the Radio Times about the forthcoming storyline: “Craig stands up to his dad and this is the turning point – in that beat Craig starts to cut Beth some slack.
“But Darryl’s next breath ruins that relationship between Craig and Beth…”
Colson also hinted that: “Beth has done something that goes totally against everything that Craig believes in.”
We wonder what Darryl will reveal!
We reckon it’ll definitely be something bad as it causes problems not only in Beth’s relationship with her son but also with her husband Kirk and niece Sinead Tinker.
As Beth’s past begins to catch up on her, we think this is just the tip of the iceberg for the family.
