Last night's episode of Coronation Street triggered the beginning of the end for character Pat Phelan. After learning that the lake at the Mill site which hides the bodies of Andy Carver and Vinny Ashford will be drained, Phelan is thrown into a panic.

But while Phelan's exit has been building up for quite a while and many viewers aren't a fan of the villain and his reign of terror, there have been some VERY mixed feelings towards the killer.

Corrie fans took to Twitter last night to share their thoughts on the gripping episode. Some were glad to see Phelan thrown into a desperate situation, after the plot's long-awaited end...

They were very happy indeed that the lake was being drained and Phelan was about to be rumbled.

Phelan gets stuck in the concrete

But he can't then climb out by the time he's got in there. He ends up stuck in the unset concrete while it's still pouring with the bodies he's tried to bury.

Other viewers, however, got a bit emotional when they realised that this meant that Phelan might be leaving the show.

The character has clearly grown on them, with some viewers even begging Coronation Street not to kill him off...
