Former Coronation Street fireball Jim McDonald could be making a return to Weatherfield very soon.

As viewers of the soap know, Jim is currently doing time in prison for an armed robbery. He last featured in 2014, where he ran an illegal booze trade - something that almost killed alcoholic Peter Barlow.

However, his time in prison may nearly be up, just in time for Jim to head back to the cobbles to support his son (Simon Gregson).

Charles has teased a potential comeback to The Sun, saying: "I speak to Simon [Gregson] every fortnight or every week in fact, and he always lets me know what’s going on and I believe there’s the possibility of something happening sort of over the winter time.”

He also added that he wants Jim to be involved in something HUGE if he returned.

"You don't bring Jim back just to have a pint in the Rovers. There's always something big."

Which is amazing, because new producer Kate Oates is said to be planning one hell of a shake-upthand promises there to be ‘carnage’.

A show insider told The Sun: "This is going to be upthere with some of the best scenes in Corrie history.

"Characters are going to be crawling through flames to escape and there's talk of killing at least one."

Could fiery Jim could be part of the carnage? We definitely wouldn’t put it past him.
