The controversial move comes as ITV airs an international football tournament

Following the tragic scenes which saw Rana Habeeb die on her wedding day during Wednesday's episode of Coronation Street, fans have been left FUMING that they are going to have to wait FOUR WHOLE DAYS before the soap airs again.

Of course, all Corrie fans will know that the show is usually on twice on a Friday night, at 7.30pm and 8.30pm, however, due to England's Euro qualifier against Czech Republic, both Corrie AND Emmerdale have been taken off ITV.

After England's heroics at the World Cup in the summer, ITV have secured live coverage of their game between 7pm-10pm tonight (Friday 22nd March), with pundits Mark Pougatch, Ian Wright and Lee Dixon providing the analysis.

But don't panic soap fans!

Despite the football ruining our Friday night plans yet again, Coronation Street viewers will be pleased to know that there will be an hour-long Corrie special on Sunday 24th March, but viewers have to wait until Monday night for the next installment of Emmerdale.

Coronation Street and EastEnders set to CLASH next week

Despite the outrage from fans who claimed that the storyline played in to tired "kill your gays" soap tropes, actress Bhavna Limbachiaexplained that it had been her suggestion to have Rana die.

"When I told Kate Oates and Iain McLeod that I wanted to leave the show to try other things, it was my decision and my choice for Rana to die because it was the only fitting end to the character,ā€ she said.

"Kate and Rana had fought so hard to be together and they had been through thick and thin together. I felt that if they were to be separated, they had to be torn apart and it couldnā€™t have been their decision. The only way to go was if Rana were to die. Rana would never leave Kate, ever."
