Sophie Webster (played by Brooke Vincent) has been on our screens for since 2004. Brooke Vincent took on the role after replacing Emma Woodward who previously portrayed the character.
We’ve seen her character Sophie go through quite a lot. After coming out as a lesbian, she almost married her girfriend Sian Powers, before realising that's not what she wanted. She also lost her girlfriend Maddie Heath after an explosion at the Builder’s Yard.
Appearing on Lorraine, Brooke – who joined the show when she was 11-years-old - spoke about her role on Coronation Street: “I think because I was so young when I was playing her I think there’s a lot of me in there.”
She added: “When you’re playing alongside characters like Rosie Webster [Helen Flanagan] and Sally Webster [Sally Dynevor] you’re a bit like ‘I’m not doing that’, ‘I’m not saying that’.
“[Sophie is] very straight compared to their fluffy characters in a certain way. I think Kevin and Sophie are kind of the same.”
The 24-year-old said: “I like my job, I like who I work with, I love where it is and it’s just exciting it’s nice to go to work every day.”
However, she revealed that she will be taking a break from the show as she swaps her life on the cobbles for the life of a pregnant woman living in the 60s.
The actress has already filmed her last scenes as Sophie before her break. She uploaded a cute video on Instagram, with the caption: “My last day of being Sophie Webster for a short time. See you in 10 weeks!!!
“You’ve been a pleasure… 13 years and counting.”
The theatre show – Be my Baby - will be based in the 1960s and Brooke is currently enjoying rehearsals for the play. She said: “It’s nice, the girls are really nice.
“We’re really having a good time.”
And despite enjoying her prosthetic baby bump, she is not feeling broody just yet.
It’s still unknown how Sophie will leave Coronation Street, but we can’t wait to see what storyline the Corrie bosses come up with.
Maybe she’ll visit her sister Rosie?
Brooke does seem keen for Helen Flanagan to return to the show, she told Lorraine: “I want Rosie back. My years working with her were the best – we need to get her back!”
We agree. When Sophie returns we’re hoping she’ll bring Rosie back with her.
How do you think Sophie will leave?
