If you ask us, nothing quite says Christmas Day like settling down on the sofa to watch EastEnders after a big turkey dinner. It’s almost like an unwritten rule that you have to watch it at Christmas. The biggest storylines always reach their dramatic climax over the festive period and even if you’re not a die-hard fan, chances are you’ll be tuned into BBC One.

The Christmas TV listings have now been revealed, which means we know what time EastEnders will be airing on the big day and, frankly, we’re gobsmacked. It is LATE.

We’ll most likely be face down in a tub of Celebrations by the time it comes on. That’s how late it is.

The Christmas Day episode of EastEnders airs at 9.25pm – and it’s an hour-long special, meaning it won’t finish until 10.25pm. See, we told you it was a late one.

Blimey, Christmas coffees (with a generous glug of Baileys, obvs) at the ready.

Thankfully, the show will air in its normal 7.30pm timeslot on Boxing Day, as well as Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28 and Thursday 29 December. We’ll also get a special New Year’s Day episode at 6.30pm.

It’s already been revealed that Mick Carter will leave Walford this Christmas, although bosses are keeping the exact details of his exit under wraps until the episode airs.

That hasn’t stopped fans speculating though, with some convinced that Mick will die at Christmas – possibly at the hands of his fiancée Janine Butcher (played by Charlie Brooks) – while others are hoping he will get his happy ending with ex-wife Linda Carter (played by Kellie Bright).

Many viewers have also speculated that there could be a Christmas wedding for Lola Pearce (played by Danielle Harold) and Jay Brown (played by Jamie Borthwick) following her terminal cancer diagnosis.

We can’t wait to what happens in Albert Square this Christmas, but how will it fare against the most shocking Christmas Day episodes of all time? We’re looking forward to finding out.
