There’s no sunbathing on the cobbles as ITV bosses banned the cast from getting too much sun this week.

Most of the country has been enjoying a fast and furious start to summer with temperatures in the high 20s and low 30s.

But Shayne Ward (who plays Aidan Connor) revealed the cast was told to avoid catching too many rays for fear it would disrupt their look.

Sharing a pic on Twitter, Shayne wrote: "Thirty seconds of sun for me. Time starts now. Continuity rules."

An insider told the Daily Star: "There was no getting sunburn for the Corrie cast.

"How would they explain it if they were all tanned and glowing and then if in the next scene it was pouring with rain?

"Some of the cast members were extremely disappointed that they were all missing out on the hottest day of the year."

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom as ITV bosses indulged the crew in a bit of ice cream between scenes.

Rhea Bailey (who plays Caz) tweeted: "Tough to stick to your #Detox when the IceCream Van comes into @itvcorrie. D'oh!"

At least everyone got their thirty seconds in the sun, with Lucy Fallon chilling out yogi-style.
