ITV’s two biggest soaps have recently been eyeing up the other’s favourite heartthrobs.

Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher – aka Andy Sugden – took to Twitter yesterday (20 July) to tell Radio Times that their recent TV Champion poll was unfair.

Pitting Kelvin against Coronation Street’s Beverly Callard – aka Liz McDonald – Kelvin tweeted them saying: “That's not fair, you can't put [me] against Liz McDonald! She's a Corrie legend! @Beverleycallard”

To which Radio Times’ Twitter account replied: “Soz Kelvin, #TVChampion problems! The draw is TOUGH!”

However, things got a little more interesting when Coronation Street’s Twitter account replied to Kelvin…

They wrote: “You've got that right @kelvin_fletcher - @Beverleycallard is awesome! You're not too bad yourself though!”

Kelvin responded saying that he actually auditioned for Corrie before bagging his role on Emmerdale, and they didn’t take him.

And if that banter wasn’t good enough for you ITV soap fans, it got even better…

Emmerdale’s Twitter account joined in the fun by telling Corrie that Kelvin was theirs unless they were willing to trade for Jack P. Shepherd – aka David Platt.

To which Jack replied “I’ll speak to my agent.”

Better yet, Emmerdale posted a picture of David Platt behind the bar in The Woolpack, whilst Andy watches on – topless!

We are loving the idea of a Coronation Street and Emmerdale cross over, and definitely think it’s something ITV bosses should consider!
