Adam Thomas has reportedly quit Emmerdale after eight years
Emmerdale's Adam Thomas has decided to quit the show after playing farm boy Adam Barton for the last eight years.
Over the years, we've seen his on-screen character Adam Barton discover his best friend Aaron Dingle is gay, have an affair with his girlfriend Mia's mum, go to prison after he started a fire at the garage and grieve for his sister Holly after she tragically from a heroin overdose.
Adam first joined the ITV show in 2009 and has gone on to become a loveable character but it's been reported that the actor has quit the soap to host his own television show. The Emmerdale character will reportedly be written out of the show later this year.
A source revealed: "Adam’s had a great time but he’s spent eight years in the Dales and thinks the time is right.
"It’s a headache for bosses as he’s a recognisable face, especially after I’m A Celebrity,” they told The Sun.
The 28-year-old actor appeared in the latest series of I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here and even though he was a joint favourite to win the jungle crown he came third after losing to Scarlett Moffatt and Joel Dommett.
Adam has since responded to the reports in two cryptic tweets where he neither confirmed nor denied it. He said: "Don't believe everything you read people."
But then he added: "In other news who wants to be a guest on my new show"
Fans seem to be relieved at the news. One person wrote: "And everyone breathes a sigh of relief…"
Another added: "Glad you're not leaving can stop freaking out now"
A third fan tweeted: "Thank god Adam"
Someone else said: "Thank you for tweeting this, such a relief."
If Adam does leave the show we'll definitely miss him! Here's a look back at the emotional moment Adam reveals Holly has died.
