Love Island contestants basically agree to have every detail of their lives broadcast to the nation for eight weeks when they sign up to the show, but one area of villa life that is well and truly kept under wraps is the Islanders’ mealtimes.
It’s well known by now that the Islanders have their lunch and dinner off camera and in separate boys and girls groups so that no juicy conversation is had while mics are off, but we’re dying to know what the contestants eat.
When we caught up with dumped bombshell Zara Lackenby-Brown for the latest episode of Closer’s Love Island Secrets, she spilled the beans (no pun intended) about what the catering team serve up and we couldn’t help but notice that the Islanders have been chowing down on something that was previously BANNED from the villa.
“It’s usually chicken,” Zara replied when asked what the contestants get offered. “That’s a good favourite because it’s good protein.
“We had some halloumi and different things. We had fish one night and they have no meat Mondays as well.”
Halloumi? But Antigoni Buxton previously revealed she wasn’t allowed to bring the squeaky cheese into the villa last summer.
The reality star and singer exclusively told Closer last summer that she’d stocked up on her fave snack before jetting out to Spain but was banned from taking into the villa, meaning she had to share it with her chaperone before entering as a bombshell.
“Just before I flew to out Mallorca, my cousin sent me some halloumi from the village. This halloumi is the best halloumi ever so I put three in my suitcase,” she explained.
