Yes, we know we’ve got a brand-new series of Love Island to obsess over, but we can’t help ourselves from reminiscing on All Stars from time to time. There was just so much drama.
One of the first explosive moments happened a mere three days in when Love Island 2021’s Jake Cornish quit the show after just 72 hours following his awkward reunion with former flame Liberty Poole.
Not only did the pair come face to face with each for the first time since their split, but they were forced to couple up because of the public vote. While we always assumed this is why Jake quit, it turns out there was actually another reason that doesn’t involve Liberty.
We recently caught up with Jake’s All Stars co-star Chris Taylor, who shed some light on the real reason the water engineer-turned-reality star and DJ threw in the towel.
“‘I think with Jake there was a couple of things happening,” Chris explained.
“He had a business deal that he wanted to find out about, which was a big thing.”
Closer contacted Jake’s representatives, who said, "Jake had an array of different business deals (predominantly music) happening at the time, but nothing he didn't already know about to leave the villa for. He left purely as he felt there was no one there for him and he had outgrown it".
Chris went on to say that the Liberty situation did, of course, influence his decision too.
He added, “He got in there and realised that they might have wanted the same storyline as the first time, for him and Liberty to rekindle. I think they both knew that wasn’t going to happen and Jake was like I don’t want to do this again.
“I think that’s part of the reason why he left early but who knows.”
This was the second time Jake left the villa early as she also quit only a few days before the Love Island 2021 final after Liberty called time on their relationship.
Speaking before All Stars, Liberty revealed that she and Jake hadn’t spoken for years. She explained, “I don't know who he is now. I literally don't even know who he is as a person or what he is like.
“If a girl likes him and they're getting on and they're really happy then that's great for them and I'm not going to interfere with that. But I wouldn't say he’s for me.”
Chris Taylor has partnered with McDonald’s to raise awareness of its new Surprize Fries promotion, where customers will be in with chance of winning millions of prizes. Running from Wednesday 29th May to Tuesday 2nd July.
