Love Island has become known for its unruly fights (mainly in the earlier seasons tbf), emotional break-ups, and dramatic decisions. One such decision from Uma Jammeh shocked fans this series as she chose to exit the villa after and enforced recoupling with Reuben Collins. However, not all is lost, as when an Islander leaves the show it means we get to grill them on all things Love Island.

After an eventful Casa Amor where almost all of the boys’ heads did a full 180 turn - including Ayo Odukoya jumping ship from Mimii Ngulube to Jess Spencer - the boys returned to the main villa to face the consequences of their actions.

While Uma and Wil Anderson both chose to return single, Wil’s lads' holiday flirtations were quickly revealed by Lucy Graybill. Despite the betrayal, when Wil was dumped just a couple of days later, Uma decided to walk so they could pursue their connection on the outside.

Many may have deemed this reaction as rash considering Wil’s behaviour, with one viewer tweeting, “Uma I’m trying to feel bad for you but you’re leaving for a man who was going to recouple with another girl after three days.”

So, what makes them act like this you might ask? Being cut off from their friends and family might have something to do with it, and when Closer sat down with Uma and Will to discuss the items they were forbidden from taking into the villa, Uma’s sentimental item sheds some new light on the strict rules of the show.

She said, “My mum and sister wrote me a really, really nice note that I wanted to take into the villa because it just would have made me feel a little bit more close to home but you’re not allowed to bring that sort of stuff in.”

There were also some less emotionally charged items that she wishes she could have taken with her. “Honestly, just loads of sunglasses that were branded that I thought I would have had to leave at home. And then I came into the villa and everyone was wearing proper branded sunglasses and I was like, ‘What the hell, guys.’”

Wil, similarly less sentimental, missed only one thing. “I think the obvious one would be your phone.”
