Nicole Samuel has opened up on why her split from Ciaran Davies was the right decision to make – but reveals she is refusing to rule out a reunion.
Nicole and Ciaran made it all the way to final of last summer’s Love Island, finishing as runners-up behind winners Josh Oyinsan and Mimii Ngulube.
But the pair announced they had split in December, just four months after leaving the villa, assuring fans their break-up was 'on amicable terms'.
And speaking exclusively to Closer Online, Nicole says splitting from Ciaran was the right thing to do for them both.
'I’m quite lucky that the relationship ended in a good way, nobody’s done anything bad to each other,' she said at the Fake Bake relaunch party in London.
'I was really busy with work, there was loads going on and it just didn’t work out. You’re in a bubble when you’re in the villa and when you come out you have a lot of stuff thrown at you, but we are good friends, we’re still on good terms. I’m glad we can continue to have a friendship after the situation.'
When asked if she could see a reunion in the future for her and rugby player Ciaran, Nicole teased, 'Never say never.
'I feel like right now it was the right decision, and I feel like it happened because it needed to happen.
'But never say never, he was a such a big part of my life, we were in the villa together which is such a weird thing to do, I’m so grateful that I met him, he will be a friend for a long time. But right, we ended it for the right reasons.'
Nicole explained she is not dating at the moment and turned down the opportunity to return to the villa for the current series of All Stars.
‘I turned it down because, at the end of the day, I’m not in the headspace where I want to go on to another dating show,’ she said.
‘I need to focus on myself, I’m not rushing back into TV. You’ve got to have time to heal before you rush into another situation, or it just won’t work out anyway.’
