Since Love Island is returning to our screens in a matter of days (Monday 3rd June), that means that summer is officially about to begin. We can soak up the sun during the day as much as we want, but as soon as it hits 9pm we’ll be sat on our sofas ready to discover the next Tyrique Hyde or Maura Higgins.
We cannot wait to meet the new group of models and influencers that will be competing with one another to find love and brand deals, all while tanning themselves under the Spanish sun, and looking amazing while doing so.
While obviously we’re excited to meet this series’ newbies, including the resident footballer Ronnie Vint, there’s one gal we’re most excited to see back on our tellies. You know her, you love her, it’s the legend that is Maya Jama.
Admittedly, while we love seeing the outfits the Islanders put together each night - will we get another style icon like Tasha Ghouri and Indiyah Polack this season? - it’s the host that blows us away every single time. Every time we’re trying to focus on the emotional recouplings or the brutal dumpings, Maya slow-mo walks in and steals the show.
Since she could walk through those doors wearing a paper bag and still wow us, we assumed that her looks were the work of chance. However, it turns out that Ms. Jama puts a lot more thought into these looks than we first realised.
She told Closer, “My outfits have to go through a checklist. I have a really good stylist: Ria Francoise, and we go through, ‘Is this going to be see-through? How’s it going to look when I’m walking? Nighttime vibes, under spotlight?' I have to be able to actually walk in it.”
Luckily for us, she also hinted at what sort of looks we can expect to see from her this season.
“My vibe is very dressy, very summer, very beach party vibes. Daytime looks and night. I love a black sleek dress so there will definitely be some sleek, dramatic moments.”
As if we didn’t have enough drama to fixate on, Maya's outfits have now promised us even more. Those other Islanders don’t stand a chance.
