From outrageously flirting with Tommy Fury to boasting about her one-night stand with a woman, Love Island star Maura Higgins has set tongues wagging with her raunchy behaviour ever since entering the villa but it’s been claimed that she’s faking her ‘sex mad’ persona in order to grab attention on the show.
That’s according to her ex-fiancé James Finnegan, who dated the Irish ring girl for nine years and insists that the Maura we see on screen is a far cry from the girl he was engaged to.
James has branded Maura ‘fame hungry’ and claims that she became obsessed with the idea of becoming a reality star during their relationship.
"Maura wants to be famous and she is very ambitious and determined," he told The Sun on Sunday.
“The Maura you see on Love Island is not the Maura I know. For me, she is putting on an act.
“I haven’t watched the scene where she was hitting on Tommy Fury but she never did anything like that to me. I’m not even sure he’s her type.
“I don’t know why she is using so much bad language on TV. She never used the expression ‘fanny flutters’ around me.”

James also questioned Maura’s admission that she once slept with a woman, adding: “I did see the episode where she was talking about the lesbian thing with the other woman and that surprised me.
“It must have happened after we broke up because I don’t remember anything like that. She never expressed any interest in women when we were together.”
James hasn’t spoken to Maura for six months and despite being left ‘heartbroken’ by their split, he still wishes Maura the best and hopes she wins the show.

Love Island fans were left shocked last week when 'predatory' Maura attempted to kiss Tommy Fury and called for her to be removed for the villa.
“@LoveIsland should understand what Maura did last night to tommy was unacceptable,” said one commenter.
“If it was the other way round Tommy probably would have been removed from, but what will happen to Maura? Nothing! Because she’s a women. DOUBLE F***ING STANDARDS at its finest #LoveIsland."
Since then, Tommy chose to stick with Molly-Mae Hague during the most recent re-coupling, leaving Maura single.
