Although it seems like longer as there have been many many series of Love Island since then, it’s actually only been just over two years since Love Island 2021, which catapulted the likes of Faye Winter, Chloe Burrows and Toby Aromolaran to fame. Time flies, doesn’t it?
Cast your minds back to that season and you’ll probably remember unlucky in love Hugo Hammond. Although producers sent a bevy of hot singletons into the villa, he just couldn’t find a connection with anyone. That is until Casa Amor rolled around and Hugo hit it off with bombshell Amy Day.
Hugo brought Amy back to the main villa after they shared a kiss (he proclaimed “job done” immediately after, gross), but it just wasn’t meant to be and they were dumped shortly after. Things then went from bad to worse when Hugo bemoaned his “tragic” time in the villa right in front of a bewildered Amy.
Following their return to the UK, Amy blasted Hugo as “fake” and admitted she wished she coupled up with someone else. Awks.
It’s no surprise then that Amy and Hugo no longer speak. In fact, it turns out that Amy is only in contact with ONE of the 36 Islanders she shared the villa with.
When we caught up with Amy earlier at the premiere of Elf the musical, she revealed she was still close with fellow bombshell Rachel Finni.
“We’re literally best friends. I literally saw her last night because we went to see Magic Mike and we stayed in a hotel. We’re literally best mates,” Amy, who will be starring in panto as the Genie of the Ring in Aladdin at the Central Theatre in Chatham, Kent next month, told us.
“We occasionally see some of the others out at events, so it’s nice to say hi, but Rachel is like a sister to me.”
As for Amy’s Love Island flame Hugo, he’s currently dating ANOTHER Love Island star and they’ve even moved in together.
Although he failed to find The One in the villa, Hugo began dating Love Island Australia’s Layla Ruby John earlier this year and they now live together Down Under.
Documenting the day they moved in together on TikTok, Layla told her followers, “Today was the big day. Hugo officially moved out of his house and moved into mine. We got coffees, he drove, we moved in, we just chilled and we made some lunch."
