She first shot to fame as a teenager with her family nine years ago on Channel 4’s hit show Gogglebox – and Amy Tapper says despite loving life in the limelight, she’s always been unhappy with her body.
Now the reality star has embarked on a hardcore weight-loss “mission” and reveals she’s now halfway to losing 6st after starting a health kick in April.
Amy, 22 – who is following the Muscle Food diet plan while exercising three times a week with a personal trainer – says, “I feel so much sexier and confident because I can already see all my hard work paying off. I’ve got more energy, I can actually feel my skin tightening as I tone up and I like what I’m seeing in the mirror. I’ve always thought I had a nice face, but I’ve never been happy with my body and I’m hell-bent on turning that around.
“When I’ve dropped around 6-8st, I’ll pose naked to celebrate! I’m not signing up to Only Fans yet though… I don’t think I’d get any subscribers. Sometimes you need to keep your private parts private.”
The star’s typical daily diet includes protein granola pots with fat-free yoghurt for breakfast, curried noodles for lunch and healthy pastas for dinner. And Amy says singer Adele, 33 – who has lost 7st over recent years – has really inspired her.
Amy, who wants to keep her current dress size private after yo-yoing in the past – says, “I love what Adele did – she came back as a completely new person after transforming her body. She’s my inspiration but I’m also doing this for myself and giving myself that extra boost.
“I went on holiday recently and usually I’m terrified of the heat, but it didn’t bother me for the first time. All my friends kept telling me how great I looked which was so lovely and encouraged me to post my outfits on Instagram. I didn’t use any filters and it felt good to keep everything real.
“Luckily, it doesn’t mean eradicating everything from my diet – I can still eat pizzas, they just won’t be the ones from Domino’s.”
And the single TV star – who appeared on Celebs Go Dating in 2018 – says she’s not ruling out finding Mr Right.
She says, “I’m so focused on my weight right now but I wouldn’t say no if someone special came along. Harry Styles has been my perfect man since 2010. The Made In Chelsea boys are also ridiculously good- looking.
“I’ve turned my back on clubbing and drinking now – I’d rather take Harry bowling on my dream date. It’s fun to do something low-key and active – dinner is so boring now and there would be banter between the bowls.”
Refreshingly, Amy says despite finding fame with her family – including dad Jonathan, mum Nikki and her brother Josh – overnight, they’re still completely normal.
The star says, “I still live with my parents in North West London and fame has never changed us. We’re still the same old, loud family. I think we became famous sitting in our living room watching TV so it felt completely natural. We never did anything out of the ordinary, having the comfort of your family around you keeps you grounded.
“We’ve had amazing perks like going to award shows. I remember meeting Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield at the National TV Awards and thinking, ‘Wow, these are gorgeous people.’ They’re just as nice as they come across on the TV. Keith Lemon is also hilarious in real life.”
And Amy says she’s not hanging up her reality shoes just yet.
She adds, “Love Island’s not for me but my dream job would be to go on I’m A Celebrity! and get my hands dirty in the jungle. I would get all the stars and eat monkey penis – if it meant meals for the campers, I’d be happy to do anything.”
My view on surgery: ‘I’ll have my loose skin cut off!’
When her weight-loss journey is complete, Amy says she’ll probably opt for removal surgery to get rid of any excess skin. She says, “If I have loose skin, I’d definitely have it cut off in skin removal surgery. It would feel like the right thing to do after all that hard work. And although I’d never go down the filler/Botox route on my face, I’d never judge the people who do it now. If you don’t like your wrinkles, there’s no harm in getting them ironed out a bit!”
