What are protein pancakes?

Protein pancakes are a healthier alternative to normal pancakes without the refined sugars and flours that are typically associated with pancakes. They can be made in a variety of ways with just a few simple ingredients and can be made in minutes.

Popular ingredients in protein pancakes are bananas, chickpeas, oats, seeds and yoghurt.

For those who are looking for an extra boost, adding protein powder is a great way to do this. It adds not only flavour, but also an extra dose of protein - perfect for those having pancakes as a pre or post gym snack.

Banana protein pancakes recipe

Ingredients:

  • One banana

  • Two eggs

  • One teaspoon of cinnamon

  • One cup of rolled oats

  • Optional: scoop of protein powder

Take the banana and mash it up until it’s a puree, then mix it in with the eggs. For a smoother consistency, blend the cup of oats into a fine powder (however you can seep them unblended if you like a thicker texture).

Then add a teaspoon of cinnamon and a scoop of protein powder if you fancy it. You can also add other ingredients to your liking such as seeds, cacao nibs, collagen.

Fry it up in a pre-greased pan and top with toppings of your choice such as sliced banana and maple syrup.
