But as fans of the 34-year-old will be aware, this wasn’t the first time the TOWIE star has shed the pounds successfully.
Back in 2014, Gem famously admitted she had tried every weight-loss plan under the sun: from the grapefruit diet to the egg diet.
So what weight-loss plans has GC had the most success with? Take a look at her most dramatic transformations - and how to get the same results.
Back to Bootcamp
After admitting she piled on the pounds during a painful break up in her mid twenties, Gemma was a size 20 by the time she joined the TOWIE cast in 2011.
But after a hardcore stint at Bootcamp in the same year, Gemma lost an impressive three stone, taking her down to 13 stone and a size 14 - the smallest she’d been for years.
‘No carbs before Marbs’
After reporting that there’s ‘no diet I haven’t done,’ Gemma kept things simple ahead of her annual trip to Marbella in 2014.
Rather than faddy diets or cutting out entire food groups, Gemma just steered clear from processed nasties, including fizzy drinks, takeaways and sweets.
‘If you just take it back to basics. You know, yes, it’s going to take longer’ Gemma admitted after losing over 1 stone with the method.
Follow Gemma's success by sticking to fresh fruit, vegetables, unprocessed meat and complex carbs, i.e. wholegrain pasta or wholewheat bread.
Sounds pretty sensible to us!
Hypno-Gastric Band
Earlier in 2015, Gemma admitted she’d lost 3 stone after being hypnotised to think she had a gastric band.
After seeing Hypnotist Robert Hisee, the star slimmed from a size 22 to an 18, and became full after just a few mouthfuls of food.
But despite Gemma seeing some success with this method - losing the huge amount in just three months - she piled on the pounds once more, leading to her having to undergo a juice retreat later in 2015.
Juice Diet
Gemma recently spent 28 days on a liquid juice diet at Jason Vale’s Juicy Oasis in Portugal, where the famous dietician placed her on the strict nutrition plan along with devising a fitness regime for her.
After a month, the star had lost a whopping 3 stone - an average of 9 pounds per week!
At £5,000 a week, this retreat is not a luxury many of us can afford, but you can emulate Gemma’s success by following Jason’s plan. We interviewed the dietician to get his advice on following the juice diet.
Is the juice diet safe?
Some medical professionals warn that juicing is not the most sensible way to lose weight. While the juices are rich in certain nutrients, they are often low in many others including protein, calcium and iron.
There are side effects of juicing too, with many dieters experiencing problems when they first switch to the plan. Take a look at some more info on the subject here.
