The 34-year-old claims she was tricked into believing she'd had the weight loss surgery and, as a result, she's been shedding the pounds.
TOWIE star Gemma told Now! Magazine: "I've gone from a size 22 to an 18. I had a bit of 3D lipo and saw a hypnotist called Robert Hisee, who put a hypno gastric band in me!
"Now I have four mouthfuls of food and I can't eat any more. I feel like I can't breathe I'm so full.
"Whatever he's done, it's bloody worked! For the first time I don't wake up wondering what I'll eat that day."
Gemma insists she's going to continuing eating less and working out to reach her goal of being a size 14.
But, while she's not denying her weight loss is about vanity, she's also doing it for the sake of her health.
Gemma continued: "My weight loss made me want to become healthier. I've also seen the health of my mum [Joan] deteriorate: she's had a knee op and is in a wheelchair at the moment.
"It scares me about my future. I have to get my weight down or I'll end up in a wheelchair, too."
With Gemma rumoured to be taking part in Celebrity Big Brother later this year, maybe the prospect of being filmed all day every day is also pushing her on...
