Former TOWIE star Carol Wright shows us the receipts from her weekly food shop, and can we come over for lunch please?
How much do you spend per week?
I spend around £100 per week on food.
Describe your daily diet…
I don’t really eat breakfast. Instead, I’ll start my day off with a cup of tea and then a coffee. Lunchtime, I’ll often have a cheese or ham omelette and salad. For dinner, my husband Mark and I like doing roast chicken with all the trimmings, or a piece of salmon with carrots, broccoli and peas.
Is there anything you refuse to eat?
I’m not a fussy eater and I love most foods. However, I don’t like artichokes. I’ve never been a massive fan of the texture.
What’s the strangest thing you’ve eaten?
Years ago as a child, we ate frogs’ legs at our neighbour’s house one Sunday night. I still remember it to this day!
What would you cook to impress?
For starters, I love making French onion soup. When the children (Carol is mum to Mark, Jess, Josh and Natalya) are over, I’ll always do a great big roast dinner and a variety of puddings for everyone to tuck into. These are usually rice pudding, apple crumble and a chocolate or walnut cake!
Comfort Food?
My homemade chicken soup. It tastes better than anything shop bought.
Favourite tipple?
White wine, especially Chardonnay!
Verdict
Closer nutritionist Juliette Kellow says, “Carol’s typical day looks low in carbohydrates. These provide energy, so she may get tired quickly without them.
"It’s important to choose starchy, fibre-rich ones such as wholemeal bread, wholewheat pasta, porridge and brown rice. Missing breakfast also makes it harder for her to get all the protein, vitamins and minerals she needs to stay healthy.”
