At-home recipe for breakfast bars:

If you’ve got some time on your hands, why don’t you try and make your own cereal bars? They are pretty easy to make and you can add your own toppings and fillings to create your ultimate bar.

These are the ingredients you will need:

• Your favourite cereal (oats, granola, cornflakes, chocolate flakes etc.)

• 100g butter

• 80g demerara sugar

• A few tablespoons of syrup (Golden or maple are good options)

• Any extras you'd like to add (fruit, yoghurt, chocolate, nuts, seeds, cinnamon)

The first thing you will need to do is preheat your oven to 140 degrees and grease and line a baking tin. Then you need to melt the butter, sugar and syrup together in a pan.

Once you have done this you add in your cereal and extra ingredients then mix them all together until they are fully coated - don't worry about exact measurements as you can always add more as you go along.

You then cook them for around 30 to 35 minutes in the oven and when they are slightly golden take them out, leave them to cool for a few minutes then cut into any sized slices or shapes you'd like.

At this stage you could even dip or drizzle them with peanut butter, biscuit spread, yoghurt or anything else that takes your fancy and sprinkle a few toppings on.

They will keep for around a week in an airtight container, but you could eat them when they're still a bit warm if you can't resist.
