Zoë Ball has delightedly announced that she has been completely sober for one year - despite enduring probably one of the most difficult years of her life

The nation came together in deep sympathy for Zoë Ball when it was revealed that her partner Billy Yates had killed himself.

The 40-year-old cameraman took his own life after suffering from depression, and was found hanged in his home by friends.

Devastated Zoë had previously told the Daily Mail that she was having "the best year of her life" thanks to her relationship with Billy.

Having got together with Billy after the breakdown of her 17-year marriage to Norman Cook, AKA DJ Fatboy Slim, Zoë has had a lot to contend with over the last 12 months.

But despite that, she has managed to stay completely sober, and congratulated herself on Twitter and Instagram.

She heartbreakingly tagged her late boyfriend in the post, crediting him with helping her overcome her demons with alcohol.

Sharing a written image which read: "Congrats on making it one year sober!", the Radio 2 DJ captioned the post with a sweet message to her close friends and family.

It read: "Love & thanks to my gorgeous family & brilliant friends & some very special ones who have helped me this year @billwahweewoo."

Staying sober through such a difficult time is truly commendable.

After Billy's funeral, Zoë's 16-year-old son Woody with ex-husband Norman posted a beautiful tribute to his mum's late boyfriend on Instagram.

The teenager displayed wisdom beyond his years as he promised to "take care" of his mum for Billy, posting a photo of a seaside photo with the words "Billy Yates 1976 - 2017" superimposed over it.

He captioned the photo: "I'm sorry we spent so little time together. No-one deserves to feel what you felt. I'll look after her."

Our thoughts are with Zoë and Billy's families at this terrible time.
