MEL B ON SPICE GIRLS: 'WE DON'T KNOW HOW OLD GERI REALLY IS'
Following an emotional performance from Jake, the judges voted and, with the exception of Mel, 39, opted to send him home.
The former Spice Girl was visibly distraught and broke down. She tearily told Dermot O'Leary: "He's an amazing guy, he's a pleasure to work with. He feels like family to me… I don't know what to say. I want to swear… I'm sad. Bye."
Jake's fellow hopefuls seemed shock with the outcome of the sing-off, as did many users on Twitter who blasted Only The Young for their terrible performance.
One fumed: "What's the point in a 'sing off' when the best one leaves & the judges say they're decisions are based on future performances?"

Another added: "What's the point in a sing off if based on potential, Jake was well the best [sic]."
"Omg poor jake. only the young were seriously out of tune we had to clock our ear! Travesty!! [sic]."
"Only The Young ruined that great Abba song for me – totally out of tune so god knows what Simon, Cheryl and Louis are thinking!!!!! [sic]."
But Jake gracefully accepted his fate, telling Dermot: "Honestly, I've met some absolutely amazing people. I'm going to keep going and find out the artist I want to be."
Taking to Twitter after the show, Mel wrote: "@JakeQuickenden I love you, you will be missed on the show but not as a friend to me."
