Stephanie, 20, had a difficult week which saw her survive the bottom two in the first X Factor live shows, only to be sent disturbing threats from gang members over Twitter.
The singer gave a performance which Cheryl’s fellow judges dubbed ‘lazy’, leading her to receive the least number of votes from the viewing public.
After it was revealed she had been voted off the show, Stephanie said “I've had an amazing time, it's been a great journey.”
Mentor Cheryl, 31, said she had ‘no regrets’ about taking a risk on Stephanie, telling Dermot O’Leary: “Stephanie's been an absolute pleasure to work with.”
Stephanie wasn’t the only contestant Cheryl had to bid farewell to on Sunday night’s showdown.
Controversial contestant Chloe Jasmine fell into the bottom two alongside 8-person boy band Stereo Kicks.
The 24-year-old gave a slightly nervous and pitchy rendition of ‘Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow’.
Louis, Mel and Simon decided to send Chloe home based on the acts’ sing-off performances.
A gracious Chloe accepted her fate, telling host Dermot: “Don't worry about it! Cheryl, you are absolutely wonderful, thank you for taking a chance on me.”
