Getting everyone talking with their identical Burberry trousers at London Fashion Week, Brooklyn and Nicola Peltz-Beckham co-ordinated look reminded fans of Victoria Beckham and husband David’s infamously matchy-matchy outfits during their early days together as 90s icons.
And as Brooklyn, who turns 26 this week, and Nicola, 30, approach their third wedding anniversary, insiders tell Closer that Victoria, 50 – who welcomed her first child aged 24 - is hoping that the pair will soon take the next step in their relationship.
‘Vic has told pals that she thinks she's going to become a granny soon, and that she and David can’t wait,’ they reveal. ‘David would love another little girl in the squad! Harper is beside herself with excitement about becoming an auntie too. Family is everything to the Beckhams so Vic will be a major player in all of her grandchildren's lives.
‘Brooklyn and Nicola have made no secret that they too want a big family. Nicola turned 30 this year and Brooklyn is so ready to become a father – he’s even happy to be a stay-home-dad.’
In an interview shortly after his wedding, Brooklyn shared, ‘Obviously it’s my wife’s body, but I’ve always wanted to have a bunch of kids around. That’s something I really want to do. And my dad was young when he had me. He was 23. And I’m 23 now. I’ve always wanted to be a young dad.’
Whilst Nicola and Brooklyn – who tied the knot in April 2022 following three years of dating - already call themselves parents to their four dogs, their child would mark the first grandchild for Victoria, 50, and David, 49.
The A list pair – who themselves tied the knot in their early 20s back in July 1999 - welcomed Brooklyn that same year, followed by sons Romeo, 22, in 2002, Cruz, 20, in 2005 and daughter Harper, 13, in 2011.
The source continues, ‘Victoria was a mum at 24. So in a way, she already thinks the clock is ticking for Nicola and Brooklyn and hasn’t made a secret of that - she’s always said how great it was to start a family while still young.
‘Although she wasn’t sure about it at first, saying that she's too young to be a Granny, now she's excited at the idea. Vic and David have confided they’re officially Grandparents-in-waiting.’
But the source makes it clear that the singer-turned-fashion designer won’t be sacrificing an ounce of her glamour to take on the role. With Nicola’s parents Claudia, 69, and Nelson, 82, set to become the older grandparents, Posh feels that it will fall to David and her to be the young and fun grandparents – ready to jump in and help out at any time.
‘Vic’s told friends that her and David have so much to give as Grandparents and are beyond ready to take that on,’ reveals Closer’s insider. ‘They are both hands-on parents and plan to be exactly that with their grandchildren.
‘Victoria will be referred to as “Glammy” and David as “Glamps“.’
In an interview with Vogue last year, Posh opened up about her desire to become a grandma saying, ‘The last time I was with Anna [Vogue editor Anna Wintour], I was like “Anna, what do your grandchildren call you?” and she said to me, “Anna.” And I was like, “Well that is very elegant,” so maybe I’ll take that route. It’s not happening just yet. But hopefully one day If I am blessed then that would be wonderful. But we’re not there just yet.’
In the same interview, the Spice Girl also opened up about her relationship with Nicola following reports of a feud between the pair after the actress and model decided not to wear a dress designed by Posh on her wedding day - despite originally planning to – and opted for a custom Valentino number instead.
Revealing that there’s no longer any bad blood between them, Posh said, ‘I think Nicola’s wonderful. And I think that she’s so talented, she’s so passionate about what she does. And she and Brooklyn make each other super happy. As a mother, that’s all you want.’
Our source adds, ‘Vic and Nicola have grown really close over the past year and Vic’s hopeful she will lean on her throughout her pregnancy.’
