The honeymoon period seems well and truly over for Brooklyn Beckham and Nicola Peltz amid a series of bombshell allegations, which have emerged in the middle of a bitter lawsuit over their £3 million nuptials.
According to legal papers filed by Nicola’s billionaire father, Nelson Peltz, against the couple’s wedding planners – who were fired weeks before their big day last April – his daughter’s so-called “dream wedding” to the Beckhams’ eldest son at his Palm Beach mansion was allegedly so chaotic he wanted to call it off, branding the star-studded event a “sh*t show”.
Now insiders say Brooklyn’s fashionista mum, Victoria, is cringing over the allegations. Our source says, “Vic’s in a state of disbelief, insisting she knew nothing about the chaos behind the scenes at the couple’s wedding, or of Nelson’s lawsuit – which she’s told pals she feels is unnecessary and has only created embarrassment for her and David, as well as for Nicola, Brooklyn and the Peltz family.”
Nelson, 80, filed the lawsuit in an effort to get back his 50 per cent deposit of £132k from Nicole Braghin and Arianna Grijalba due to the pair’s alleged “mistakes”, which reportedly included incomplete guest lists, problems with travel arrangements and failures over the wedding cake and flowers.
But the billionaire’s filing appears to have backfired amid the planners’ explosive counter claim for damages against the “bully billionaire”, which have not only threatened to tarnish the image and reputation of the couple, but also that of their famous family.
The duo took over from legendary party planner, Preston Bailey – who reportedly dropped out after “overcommitting himself” just six weeks before the wedding – but claimed they worked 17-hour days to fulfil the 28-year-old bride-to-be’s alleged demands, which apparently included an all-pink lounge with orb lighting for the after-party, and complaints the flowers “weren’t white enough”.
In the hundreds of damning WhatsApp conversations and texts submitted for evidence, there are numerous messages alleged to have come from Brooklyn, 23, including an “embarrassing” suggestion for a “Brooklyn and Nicola burger” – one wrapped in lettuce for female guests.
Nicole and Arianna have alleged Nicola spent a whopping £85k on hair and make-up – begging them not to tell her father because he would “kill her and be so mad”, and they also claimed that Nelson and his wife, Claudia, 67, were petrified of Victoria finding out about the mistakes.
And insiders say Victoria, 48, feels shocked and humiliated by the allegations, which have left her and husband, David, 47, reeling.
A source says, “Having Brooklyn dragged into the debacle has been extremely distressing for her and David, and they’re upset that Nelson seems to have created unnecessary drama for the couple so early on in their marriage. Vic’s been comforting Brooklyn, who’s understandably upset by the whole thing, while having to also try to decipher what happened and why she and David weren’t informed about what was going on behind the scenes.
“It’s left a bitter taste and they feel very uncomfortable about it – especially when, in their eyes, Nelson isn’t in need of the money. They feel he’s unnecessarily created this storm.”
In the build-up to the wedding, insiders told Closer how Victoria was upset at feeling “shut-out” over the planning, which is believed to have caused a rift between her and Nicola.
Reports of a feud were further fuelled when the model-turned-actress chose to wear a Valentino frock, instead of one made by her mother-in-law’s design label.
While Transformers star Nicola attempted to shrug-off the claims, Victoria reignited allegations of a dispute over Christmas when she made a series of gushing gestures on social media while Brooklyn was absent from their family celebrations – but noticeably left out her new daughter-in-law.
And pals say the latest bombshells have further heightened the tension between the pair, which has left Victoria inconsolable.
The source adds, “Vic and Nicola were barely on speaking terms before this and now it’s made things a hundred times worse. She is also aware that these bombshells run deep and there is only so much they can come back from – she worries about her son and doesn’t want to see their reputation trashed in public.
“She’d always dreamed of having a second daughter in Nicola, and having a close relationship with her grandchildren, but now she’s feeling hopeless and fears that might never happen.
“David is trying to keep her hopes up, insisting that this could be the turning point that will bring them all together in their efforts to shun the claims and heal any wounds that have been inflicted. She’s praying he’s right, not only for their sakes but also for Brooklyn’s, who’s in the middle of this mess.”
