She declared herself part of a “throuple” as Selena Gomez cuddled up to Brooklyn Beckham and his wife, Nicola Peltz, on New Year’s Eve – using the hashtag “#foreverplusone” in the montage of pictures she posted alongside the newlyweds on Instagram.
The 30-year-old singer shared a series of posts with her 370 million followers – one showing off the matching Valentino frocks her and Nicola, 27, wore on NYE, as well as snaps of the threesome playing Jenga and spooning on their private yacht.
And now pals say Brooklyn’s mum Victoria is increasingly concerned as Selena’s friendship with the couple has been ramped up since the newlyweds moved into the star’s Los Angeles mansion.
A source says, “Brooklyn and Nicola moved into Selena’s Encino estate a few weeks before Christmas and the three of them have been playing happy families – joking that Selena is going to be written into their marriage licence!
“Brooklyn and Nicola put their home on the market last year and had been living at Nicola’s apartment in LA while they look for a new house, which has been far from ideal, given how cramped it is.
“When Selena suggested they move into her sprawling home with a huge back yard, they loved the idea and agreed that since they’re still so young, living with a friend would be the perfect way to have the best of both worlds.
“They’ve become a proper little family – with Nicola often dubbing Selena her ‘sister wife’, and Brooklyn enjoying the camaraderie of having two women doting on him. He calls Selena ‘Mrs Gomez Peltz’ and laughs about how their first child will have two mums.
“He’ll often cook for the girls and they enjoy having friends over for dinner parties and just hanging out at night watching movies and playing board games.
“But Victoria has expressed concern that the new living arrangements aren’t ideal for a newly married couple and that Selena has a history of falling out with people.”
Brooklyn, 23, was noticeably absent from The Beckham’s recent festive celebrations at their Cotswolds home – with Victoria, 48, gushing about how much she “missed” her son in the snaps she posted on Instagram alongside her husband, David, 47, and three youngest children – Romeo, 20, Cruz, 17, and Harper, 11.
She wrote, “We love and miss you @brooklynpeltzbeckham” – notably failing to mention her new daughter-in-law amid their rumoured fallout.
Pals say the fashion designer is concerned that Selena might not be a good influence on Brooklyn, who recently sparked controversy when she snubbed her kidney donor and long-time pal, Francia Raisa.
In 2017, the former Disney star was given a kidney by her then pal of 10 years, actress, Francia, after her own had failed due to lupus, a condition that affects the immune system and can damage organs.
But after Selena claimed Taylor Swift was her “only” friend in the industry during an interview last month, Actress Francia hit back by posting a montage of snaps of the friends together – one of which was the pair in hospital together ahead of the surgery – which she captioned “interesting”.
Fans were left outraged, with many calling Selena “heartless” for turning her back on the friend who saved her life. After the backlash, Selena hit back on Instagram, saying, “Sorry I didn’t mention every person I know.”
A source says, “Victoria was shocked when she heard Brooklyn and Nicola were moving into Selena’s.
“And with the tension already high between her and Nicola, Vic was also understandably concerned with things becoming even more fraught with Selena’s input.
Posh and Brooklyn had always been close – with insiders previously telling Closer her fears over their bond being weakened amid his new life with Nicola and permanent move Stateside.
And while the former Spice Girl knows she has little control over how her son lives his life, pals say Brooklyn has helped curb her fears by assuring his mum that their relationship will never falter.
The source adds, “Brooklyn understands his mum’s apprehensiveness over their living situation, but insisted it was just temporary, which helped alleviate her concerns.
“He was constantly FaceTiming and messaging his family over Christmas. He sent gifts and watched everyone open them as well as promising to spend the next festive season with them.
“David has been an incredible support to Vic too as he helps her adjust to her son growing up and being in the next chapter of his life. And while she admits she’ll always worry about him since he’s still her ‘baby’, the main thing is that he’s happy and content.”
