Earlier this year a video clip leaked which reportedly showed Mario, 26, snorting the Class A drug in a friend’s kitchen.

Following the allegations, producers of the ITV2 reality show suspended Mario and wasn’t present for series 12.

Despite it still being unconfirmed whether or not it is Mario in the video, today he apologised.

He told The Sun on Sunday: “I would like to publicly apolgise to my loyal family and friends, all of my co-stars on TOWIE, to ITV and most importantly to all of the fans.

“After a few personal issues, I went off the rails. I have been seeking professional assistance and am now fit and well.”

Mario also made it clear that he is hoping for a return to the show, adding: “I hop that the producers and ITV will see my genuine remorse and consider allowing me to return to the show.”

The last time Mario featured on the show he was getting involved with Chloe Sims, 31, much to the disappointment of Lauren Pope, also 31.

Now Chloe is with Elliott Wright, 33, and Lauren is seeing 24-year-old Lewis Bloor.

Taking to Twitter following the series 12 finale, Mario wrote: “How was Towie? Gutted I couldn’t be part of this series but congratulations to the rest of the cast on completing series 12 x.”
