One of our official national tresures, Terry Wogan was loved by us all, and the country was devastated when the veteran TV and radio presenter passed away in January. The sad news touched many people’s hearts as most people grew up watching him on TV or listening to him on the radio - a statement at the time read: "He passed away surrounded by his family. While we understand he will be missed by many; the family ask that their privacy is respected at this time."

Over the years Terry helped raise millions of pounds for Children in Need with his cheeky charm - as you can see in our top five favourite Terry Wogan Children in Need moments. And now fans are rallying together to get his version of The Floral Dance to number one this Christmas, in his memory.

Terry’s version of the song was released in 1978 and reached number 21 in the charts back then; fast forward to 2016 and new Twitter and Facebook accounts have launched, dedicated to The Campaign to get Terry’s The Floral Dance to this year’s Official Christmas Number One.

BUT campaigners have stiff competition on their hands in the shape of the X Factor’s winner single AND Sir Cliff Richard’s Christmas single It’s Better to Dream. Not to mention the fact that Kylie Minogue has a Christmas album out, and John Lewis’ Christmas soundtrack One Day I’ll Fly Away by Vaults has been released, as has The Greatest Gift For Christmas Is Me, sung by James Cordon in the Sainbury’s Christmas advert. Go Terry! Go Cliff! But who will win?

The Christmas Number One song will be announced on Friday December 23.
