Tamara Ecclestone on being a hands-on mum: “We rarely have help from a nanny”

Tamara Eccleston has opened up on her approach to parenting, insisting she is a hands-on mother.

Despite being the daughter of Formula One boss Bernie, the 30-year-old model claims she has little help in bringing up her daughter Sophia.

Instead, Tamara, who gave birth in March, says that she and husband Jay Rutland support each other in the raising of their child.

She told Mother & Baby magazine: “I love being a hands-on mum. I made a decision to be a mum who’d raise my baby with the support of my family and Jay.

“I was there the first time Sophia rolled over, smiled and giggled in her sleep. There are times we do have help from the nanny, but they’re in the minority.”

In fact despite her privileged upbringing, Tamara insists Sophia will not be a spoilt child and will have to work for things she wants.

Tamara added: “It’s important not to give a child everything they want when they want it – my parents would give us something if we did a chore or walked the dog.”

Tamara recently revealed to a British magazine that she and Jay already want more children.

She said: “[Sophia] is such an amazing girl. She has the best personality and is beautiful. Everything about being a mother has completed me. We definitely wnt more.”
