Stephanie Davis announced her pregnancy in mid-May 2016.

Since then, she’s shared ‘undeniable proof’ of her pregnancy, in a bid to appease trolls who have accused her of faking it for publicity.

However the former Hollyoaks star has since come under fire for ‘drinking alcohol’ whilst pregnant - and now she’s been slammed for enjoying a luxurious treat meal.

Taking to Instagram, Steph shared a photo of herself sitting down to an incredible FEAST of hot chocolate, scones, a cappuccino and cake.

Which all sounds delicious, to us - but some social media users have attacked her for topping off her goodies with whipped and squirty cream.

“You can't eat cream when pregnant!” ranted one.

Another added furiously: “Sick - do you not care about your baby!?”

“I feel sorry for any children you want to have in the future if you think this is acceptable,” said another.

Others took the snap as further ‘proof’ that the former CBB star isn’t actually pregnant.

“She can drink neat vodka for all I care. She's not pregnant!” one snapped.

However other social media users decided to defend Steph against the backlash.

One wrote: "Pregnant people can't eat fresh cream? That's the dumbest s**t I've read all year!! What an idiotic comment."

Another commented: "Can’t eat fresh cream while pregnant? Jesus that’s a new one!!!"

And one said supportively: “Oh my god, people you are getting so boring now! Don't eat this Steph, can't have a sip of ale. Women ate and drank what they wanted before rules were introduced so give the girl a break!

“I ate whatever I wanted during pregnancy, apart from runny eggs, and my 2 year old is healthy and clever. No harm done.

“Keep doing whatever makes you happy, Steph.”

According to NHS guidelines, cream is safe to eat while pregnant, so long as it’s pasteurised.

However some nutrition experts, such as Dr Rana Conway, claim that pregnant women should be particularly wary when eating dairy products, as they may contain listeria.

What is listeriosis?

According to Baby Centre UK, Listeriosis is an illness caused by a bacteria (named listeria), which is found in certain foods, in soil or in animal poo.

They explain: "Although the infection is rare, even a mild form of listeriosis in a pregnant woman can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth or severe illness in newborn babies."

How common is listeriosis?

Listeriosis is very rare, even in pregnant women. There are fewer than 200 cases in the UK each year, and fewer than 30 of these cases are pregnant women.

What are the symptoms of listeriosis?

  • Fever

  • Chills

  • Muscle aches

  • Nausea

  • Vomiting

  • Diarrhoea

To be on the safe side, see your GP or midwife any time you have a fever and chills during pregnancy.

How can I reduce my risk of listeriosis?

According to NHS Choices, you can reduce your risk of listeriosis by:

  • Avoiding mould-ripened soft cheeses (e.g. brie, camembert, chèvre)

  • Avoiding soft blue-veined cheeses –(e.g. Danish blue, gorgonzola, roquefort)

  • Avoiding pâté of any kind, including vegetable pâté

  • Avoiding unpasteurised milk – only drink pasteurised or UHT milk

  • Heating ready meals or reheated food until they’re piping hot all the way through

  • Making sure your fridge is set at 5C or below and working correctly

  • Avoiding any food after its "use by" date

  • Eating food taken out of the fridge within four hours – after this time, it should be thrown away

  • Washing your hands before and after preparing food

  • Washing cooking utensils and surfaces thoroughly before and after preparing food

REMEMBER: It's safe to have any pasteurised or UHT milk and yoghurts, including probiotic yoghurts.

Hard and soft pasteurised cheeses, such as cheddar, cottage cheese or processed cheese are also fine to eat.

Since announcing her pregnancy, a war of words has erupted between Steph, 23, and her ex-boyfriend Jeremy McConnell, after he tweeted: “She’s not pregnant with my child, come on.”

Hitting back, Steph accused Jeremy of “abandoning” her after allegedly not turning up to the baby scans.

Despite this, the former CBB star seems to be relishing life as a mum-to-be, sharing plenty of photos of cute baby outfits on social media.

And, after meeting Steph at an exclusive spa in Hertfordshire, the star – who was positively glowing as she showed off her baby bump – told Closer that she’s getting her life back on track.

She said: “I’m going ahead with the pregnancy on my own and I’m happy raising this baby alone.

“Jeremy is a k--bhead who didn’t come to the scan, but I’m moving forward.”
